Robinson Elementary School, the town of Starksboro, Vermont joined with AllEarth Renewables, a company that specializes in the installation of grid connected solar and wind energy systems, in the erection of a 25 AllSun Tracker system over a field close to the school. The 100 kW solar tracker system is anticipated to generate sufficient solar power to meet 100% electricity requirement of the school and the town offices close by.
The AllSun Tracker system installed by AllEarth Renewables is a total grid linked solar power producing system which incorporates PV modules that are set over the ground installed mounting poles. The dual axis moving solar system is designed to maintain the solar panels in a perpendicular angle to the sun rays all through the day to increase power generation and also features a GPS (Global Positioning System) facility. The sun tracker facility incorporated in the model helps the panels to receive maximum solar power which in turn increases electric power generation. The unique design of the panels allows them to generate around 40% more power than the fixed type of solar panels.
Anne Bijur, who works as Marketing and Communication Coordinator at AllEarth, said that the project stands as an example to illustrate how a group of people can manage the task of meeting their energy requirements. He added that the Selectboard as well as the School Board visualized the benefits, the solar installation could bring in to the community as well as to the school in the form of savings. He further said that the installation will allow the school children to understand solar power generation and how it will benefit their every day life.
