Cenergy Power and Greenleaf-TNX declared that they have entered into a definitive accord to finance, formulate and build 'Nickel 1’ a 1.75 MW solar power plant in Kern County, California.
The proposed project has already received construction permissions and is anticipated to commence in summer. Interconnection of the project is fixed for the early part of 2012. On completion, the project will generate 3,000 MWh of clean renewable energy every year and offset nearly 6,500,000 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions per year.
Bill Pham, Cenergy Power’s CEO, stated that unlike most of the solar projects that failed in meeting the objectives of California’s Feed-In Tariff program due to escalated power costs, the company, along with its partner Greenleaf, has succeeded in building small distributed solar power facilities in the state to produce solar power at a reasonable cost. Pham added that the company has planned to construct more such plants.
