Frost + Sullivan Introduces “Nanotech Technology Alert” Report

Shrink Nanotechnologies has announced that Technology Insights of Frost & Sullivan has introduced the “Nanotech Technology Alert” report, on the technology of OptiSol Solar Concentrator, which is a disruptive and proprietary solar energy concentrator based on nanotechnology currently commercialized by Shrink Solar LLC, a Shrink Nanotechnologies subsidiary. Shrink Nanotechnologies licenses opportunities and develops products in the solar power generation; biotechnology and sensors R&D tools; and medical diagnostics businesses.

Technology Insights reports that the OptiSol Solar Concentrator provides numerous advantages. Generally, concentrating solar power systems utilize tracking devices, lenses and mirrors for focusing sunlight on a photovoltaic device. However, the OptiSol Solar Concentrator does not use any optical elements, but functions similar to a fiberoptic 'sheet,' harnessing and directing sunlight onto a PV cell. And since these systems utilize plastic instead of glass, they tend to be durable, lightweight and cost-effective. The OptiSol Solar Concentrator can be used in places such as siding, doors, windows and roofs to transform such places into power generators. The concentrator also finds applications in recreational markets, military devices and consumer electronics.
