MAG Systems Establishes Novel Renewable Energy Business Unit

MAG Industrial Automation Systems has established a novel Renewable Energy Business unit to design and develop automated manufacturing systems for wind turbine components and solar panels. The operations of new business unit are based in Hebron, Kentucky and Schaffhausen, Switzerland and are led in the Americas by Joe Jones and in Europe/Asia by Siegfried Schmalzried.

In recent months, MAG Industrial Automation Systems has secured contracts worth $30 million, which represent around 30% share of the company’s targeted market. Moreover, the past five years have witnessed the company supplying over 30 automated production lines meant for solar panels across the world.

Currently, MAG Industrial Automation Systems is sharing a grant of $7 million received from Michigan State to develop a wind hub machining cell meant for voluminous production and also pursue carbon-fiber turbine blades development.

With the opening of a novel Composites Technical Center located in Göppingen, Germany in the year 2009 and also a novel facility in Changchun, China, the company currently has 24 facilities worldwide.

This year, the novel Renewable Energy Business unit is likely to debut at shows all over the world including HUSUM WindEnergy 2010, Windpower 2010 and Solar Power International 2010.
