SoloPower’s Thin Film CIGS Modules Receive IEC and UL Certification

SoloPower Inc, a California based producer of flexible thin film solar cells and solar modules, has earned the distinction of becoming the first solar module manufacturing company to receive the IEC 61646 and 61730 and UL 1703 certification for the supple thin film CIGS solar modules produced by it. The successful achieving of certification will allow SoloPower to market its low weight thin film CIGS modules in European countries other than North America.

The company accomplished the IEC 61646 and IEC 61730 certifications for its flexible CIGS modules through TUV SUD America Inc. Earlier its flexible module had received Intertek ETL Mark certification for reaching the UL 1703 standard. The certification standards are normally issued after examining the products for its performance, sturdiness, consistency and safety. The company has received certification for its original SFX1 module design with capabilities such as 70Wp and 75Wp, 0.3m x 2.9m, 2.3kg / 5lbs. Its other module SFX1-i3 with prescribed capabilities such as 260Wp, 0.88m x 3m, 6.8kg/15lbs is presently finishing the certification testing process.

Tim Harris, CEO of SoloPower, said that completing the testing process and receiving certifications will evidently place them in a spot to provide improved solutions to the clients from all over the world. He added that the company is currently building suitable worldwide markets for its potent, weightless and cost-effective products.
