KYOCERA Solar Modules to Power Remote Mongolian Villages

Kyocera has installed two solar energy systems totaling 305.1 kW in Mongolia under the World Bank sponsored Renewable Energy for Rural Access Project.

The company was chosen for the project based on its installation experience in Mongolia and the sturdiness of its systems to withstand the harsh weather conditions of the place. The objective of the project is to provide electric supply to the residents and to improve the living conditions of the people living in remote villages not connected by electricity.

Kyocera has installed a 202.5 kW system at Gobi-Altai and a 102.6 kW system at Bayantooroi situated in the Gobi Desert of western Mongolia. The solar systems utilized by the company are designed to withstand -30°C of winter weather. The largest stand-alone type of solar power producing system currently meets the electricity power requirements of the local people. The solar systems were provided and installed by KYOCERA (Tianjin) Sales and Trading Corporation (KTST), a subsidiary company of KYOCERA. The installed systems will contribute to  the education of children and  the growth of the community while preserving the environment.

The company is actively engaged in clean solar energy building in Mongolia for a number of years. Earlier the company had taken part in the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) project to provide 200 portable solar power producing systems to the yurts of herding families. The KYOCERA modules are chosen for a 453.18 kW grid connected system to be installed over  Genghis Khan International Airport in Ulan Bator City in 2011.
