npower Installs Solar PV Modules on Carriage Museum of National Trust

npower, an electric power supplying company in the UK, declared that it has completed the installation of PV solar cells on the roof of Carriage Museum of National Trust, at Arlington Court closer to Barnstaple in Devon.

The 8.9 kWp solar PV modules installed over an area of 113 m2 will produce over 6.3 mWh of renewable clean power every year and allow the museum to save more than 600 pounds Sterling on its electric power bill and earn around 2,270 pounds by back-feeding the energy to the grid. The solar PV installation at the museum was performed by Solar Technologies. The project received its finance through sales of National Trust Green Energy offered by its energy associate npower and brings up capital to sustain the energy projects located at the holdings of the Trust. The solar installation will help in the reduction of ultraviolet light rays entering the museum and to guard its show pieces kept inside the building. Both the companies have signed an agreement to extend the period of association for two more years.

npower has helped more than 25 National Trust buildings with green energy initiatives such as solar panels, ground source heat pumps and biomass boilers to produce clean energy and reduce their costs on power bills. The Trust is planning to reduce its total power demand by 20% by the year 2020 and switch over to the use of renewable energy technology.
