F Cubed Launches Solar Desalination System

F Cubed has released a new desalination system that uses solar energy for its entire operation. Instead of using harmful chemical substances or filters for purification purposes, the panel utilizes solar energy.

The temperature of the solar collector’s water is increased by the Carocell modules and the evaporation process gets quickened. The vapor condenses and trickles down and the purified water is collected. The salts and other impurities of the impure water are left in the system.

The desalination system can also be deployed in mining industries to perform several operations like recycling of used water. The separated salts like magnesium chloride and sodium chloride can be utilized for controlling dust during mining operations.

The modular solar panels are cost-effective and can be mounted either on the roof or ground. The company has reported that the system provides enhanced ability of 65% and maximum efficiencies of around 80%. This is higher when compared to solar distillation systems offering only 30 to 40%. The weight of F Cubed’s smallest desalination system is 16 kg. It has the capacity to give 16 liters of desalinated water in a day in temperature ranges of 20°C and it can give more output under high temperature conditions.

The preliminary commercial scale launch of the technology is being developed for the District Council of Ceduna to provide clean water to the location. The system is likely to supply around approximately 200 million liters of clean water every year. The solar desalination technology of the company has been well received from the World Bank and the United Nations Office of Project Services.
