Solar Power International to Showcase Wisconsin Solar Initiative

Solar Power International(SPI) to be held from September 10 to 13 in Orlando, Fla., will be showcasing the Wisconsin Solar Initiative.

In order to highlight the solar products from Wisconsin, research and training and economic development opportunities, a Wisconsin Solar Tailgate will be hosted on September 11, Tuesday from 3 to 5 pm. Beer from solar-driven Wisconsin breweries will be featured and also cheese. Caleffi Solar and the Wisconsin Solar Initiative will host the Tailgate.

The Milwaukee Shines Program Manager, Amy Heart stated that Southeast Wisconsin and Milwaukee are now at the forefront of the solar industry. The US make, the quality, solar cooling and heating are all the result of a multi-dimensional effort. The city of the solar program of Milwaukee, Milwaukee Shines, works to support and build an increasing solar energy market. Milwaukee Shines offers solar outreach and education, funding solutions to bring down solar cost and is trying to make the solar installation process convenient for contractors, customers and officials.

In the year 2008, Milwaukee was called as one of 25 Solar America Cities by the U.S Department of Energy. Milwaukee has begun a public-private, comprehensive partnership approach for enabling solar energy adoption encompassing solar hot water and solar electric systems. As Milwaukee is close to an evolving regional SHW market, has access to growing global and national markets, manufacturing expertise, state incentives for renewable energy component manufacture is available and there is affordable land for relocation or business expansion, hence was reported to have the potential to be a Solar Hot Water (SHW) manufacturing cluster by a study done by CH2M Hill.

The Wisconsin Solar Initiative is a project of the Milwaukee Metro Solar Hot Water Business Council and the Midwest Renewable Energy Association.
