Eco-friendly Gifts from Toronto and Region Conservation

Toronto and Region Conservation (TRCA), which  focuses on protecting the natural environment has come out with four different eco-friendly gift ideas that includes gifts for nature lovers, clean air gifts, gifts for pioneers and for local history enthusiasts.

Nature lovers can be gifted with a Conservation Area Membership through which the local environment will be protected by TRCA. This membership can be obtained by four individuals from a single family or by separate individuals also. The family membership and the individual membership costs $135 and $75. The individual membership benefits include a discount of 10% on food purchases at Black Creek Pioneer Village, entry discounts for educational programs at Kortright Center, and discounts on camping permits along with a discount on cross country ski rentals. An annual fly fishing club membership is also provided with a discount of 5%.

The Clean Air gift certificate from TRCA enables the Conservation Foundation of Greater Toronto to bring about reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. These certificates start at a price of $25. A copy of TRCA’s “Meeting the Challenge of Climate Change” will be given to individuals who have opted for this gift certificate.

A yearly membership to visit Black Creek Pioneer Village is another gift that is available with offers for both individuals and families. The family membership costs $95 and individual membership costs $60. Ticket discounts for selected events, a discount of 10% on Gift Shop and food bought from the restaurants and pubs of this village are part of this gift pack. Parking facilities while visiting the village, and free day time admission is also available in a seasonal basis from May to December every year.

The Carrying Place Book is a gift for those interested in learning the history of the Humber River. Photos depicting the cultural and natural heritage of this river that spreads across the Toronto city are available in this book. This book also holds essays on how the Humber River originated and the challenges faced by it. An atlas is also available with descriptions about the figures and facts of the Humber River. Money obtained from the sale of this historical book will be used to protect and restore the watershed of the Humber River. This book is available in Toronto, the Region Conservation Head Office and in Black Creek Pioneer Village.
