In recent years, the sustainability movement has heightened the awareness of green technology in virtually every industry, and the printing business is no exception. More than ever, printers are rethinking the products they use and the impact those products have on the environment.
Within pressroom chemistry, printers have focused on reducing the VOC in the washes used to clean the inks from blankets and rollers. Typically, they have replaced the high VOC solvents with either VOC-exempt petrol solvents or vegetable oil-based washes. These low VOC washes effectively reduce VOC 50 - 70%. However, printers are now committing to higher sustainability goals and are seeking even more effective press washes with lower VOC.

MicroKleen’s patent-pending green technology cleans by encapsulating the ink; allowing the press operator to easily and safely wipe it away with just water. It is a safe and effective alternative to traditional washes.
