Recently, National Grid has introduced a white paper on renewable gas.
The white paper has been titled “Renewable Gas - Vision for a Sustainable Gas Network”. It shows as to how 16% of the demand for natural gas could be fulfilled by renewable gas in the four National Grid-serving states namely New Hampshire, Rhode Island, New York and Massachusetts, while focusing on the role played by renewable gas towards the nation’s clean energy future.
The paper discusses about the potential renewable gas sources in northeastern region of the U.S. while providing a renewable gas technology overview. Derived from presently available waste resources, renewable gas can significantly decrease greenhouse gas emissions. Renewable gas, also called as bio-methane, is a pipeline-quality gas that has its derivation from biomass while being completely interchangeable with the natural gas.
The white paper analyses a natural gas network that is supplied by traditional sources, in addition to unconventional resources including liquefied natural gas (LNG) and shale gas.
