Kalahari Greentech Introduces Wind Turbines that Operate in Low Wind Speed

Kalahari Greentech Inc, a solar and wind energy projects building and operating company, has announced the completion of a wind turbine airfoil prototype for one of its wind generator product. The new Kalahari wind generator focuses on wind energy to produce power even in depleted wind conditions while it remains unproductive with other conventional type of wind energy turbines.

Most of the currently used wind turbines start rotating the airfoils at wind speeds measuring 4 to 5 m/s and will attain the maximum power production efficiency at wind speeds reaching 15 m/s. . The normal wind turbines usually deploy a lift to drag proportion of 60 to 1. The test results of Kalahari’s prototype wind generator showed a lift to drag ratio of 157.8 to 1 at a 2°incline of assail by the wind and the assembling chamber test indicated a wind density of 2 to 1 without turbulence.

Robert Matthews, Chief Engineer of the company, said that the test results corroborate the aims of the design in constructing a turbine air surface that will enable operation of the wind turbine even in less than 10 mph wind speed. He added that the company is introducing a wind turbine that will utilize thermal current existing in most of the installations and operate well in low level wind conditions. He further explained that when the wind speed crosses 10 mph the design of the generator will automatically switch over to the vertical axis wind turbine style and offer increased power generating efficiency for a broad array of wind speeds.
