Solarfun Looks to Consolidate its Position in the Chinese PV Market

Solarfun Power Holdings Co Ltd, a Chinese solar company manufacturing silicon ingots, PV cells, PV modules and wafers, declared that its fully owned auxiliary company Jiangsu Linyang Solar Power Electronic Engineering Co Ltd, has signed an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) agreement with Guangdong Guohua New Energy Investment Co., Ltd.

The agreement will require Jiangsu Linyang to own the responsibility for providing the technology and design for the proposed 8.1 MW PV power production facilities in Heyuan City in Guangdong Province and build it. The company will also provide the required PV modules to be utilized in the project.

The solar power generating project will be possessed by Guohua New Energy a Heyuan established company set in 2009. The project that is set to complete and become functional by 30th December 2010 will receive partial financial support from the Golden Sun Program of the Chinese government. The solar plant is set in an area measuring over 74.1 acres and will produce around 8.1 MWh power every year.

Dr. Ping Peter Xie, Solarfun’s President and Chief Executive Officer, expressed his excitement for being selected to construct one of the largest EPC project in China. He expressed optimism about the growth of the company on completing the EPC project. He detailed some of the previous projects completed by the company in China and called the PV solar market in China as important for its growth.
