According to the signed accord the City of Bryan will buy 30 MW of clean green energy generated by the Peñascal 2 Wind Project located near Sarita Texas and owned by Iberdrola Renewables for a period of 15 years. The 202 MW Peñascal 2 Wind Project located in Kenedy County Texas was commissioned in February this year. The power supply to the City of Bryan will commence from 1st January 2011.

Barrett Stambler, Vice President of Iberdrola Renewables invited the City of Bryan to join its growing list of clients and said that the clean power generated by his company does not get affected due to vagaries of price variation and offers long term price guarantee.

Dan Wilkerson, General Manager of BTU said that by buying power from Iberdrola his company meets the near term power demand competitively with clean green power. He added that the favorable location of the wind project which has already commenced its power production has the potential to meet the growing BTU power needs.
