The 2010 Clean Tech Showcase, which was recently held at Sacramento State, featured latest advancements in biofuel, solar and wind technologies. The event was organized by CleanStar, a part of Sacramento Area Regional Technology Alliance (SARTA).

Over 700 visitors attended the event, and renowned experts in environmental and renewable energy technology also participated in the show. Approximately 90 companies showcased their technologies and products and 7 new companies, known as Fresh Faces, also formed part of the event. Speakers included Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson, Congresswoman Doris Matsui, Mark Miller, Chief Executive Officer of Project Frog and Kim Walesh, Chief Strategist for the City of San Jose.

It should be noted that the number of clean technology companies in the Sacramento State had increased dramatically in the last four years. This trend marks the fastest rate of growth in the country. In fact, green jobs had increased to 87% in the period of 2000 to 2008 and had generated approximately 13,000 jobs in the manufacturing support service industry.

CleanStart’s Co-Chairman, Gary Simon stated that the Sacramento region has great access to venture capital and government funding and is known for world-class research facilities. A great number of entrepreneurs are looking forward to change the world, he said.
