Energy Quest to Construct Modular Bioenergy Power Plant

Energy Quest (EQI) has proclaimed that it is setting in motion the preliminary work for a modular biomass power plant that would produce 6.4 MW bioenergy to be sold back to the utility in Georgia’s Lee County.

The plant would include four 1.65 MW modular power units. This modular bio-energy plant will utilize 10 to 12 tons of agricultural waste biomass per hour and this will be supplied from the surrounding regions.

The gasification system, which is employed to produce gas required for the generator engines, would also produce 16 to 18 thousand tons of high quality Biochar annually. This would be traded as a soil enhancement product. When this plant is completed it would employ 20 full time employees and would operate for 24 hours of the day. It would be owned and operated by EQI. This plant will operate with increased efficiency and would also involve lesser costs for establishing the plant. It will provide clean syngas fuel for use in the power generators.

The overall estimated expenditure for this bio-energy project would be $12 million USD. It would be paid back as per the Pay out time (POT) within a period of four years based on 2010 gross revenue figures of $6,500,000 and a $3,200,000 amount as net revenue after taxation. However the POT estimates does not take into consideration the various recyclables, incentives and government grants, which the project is eligible for and when these are added, the project becomes even more attractive.

Energy Quest, which is a Nevada-based company, is an upcoming leader in alternate energy fuels and a developer of hydrogen enriched low cost fuels globally.
