The 2014 PHEV features the 4-cylinder, 2-liter, i-VTEC engine, the Earth Dreams which is characterized by 137 HP and electric motor of 124 kW power. A lithium-ion battery of 6.7 kwh power facilitates driving in electric mode. The total output of the system is 196 HP. Driving efficiency is optimized by the integration of a two-motor hybrid design which facilitates the power train of the vehicle to effortlessly transition between direct engine mode, gasoline-hybrid mode and all electric mode. The Accord PHEV is expected to provide a mileage greater than 100 MPG-e. The vehicle is also expected to be certified with an Enhanced AT-PZEV rating by the California Air Resources Board.

A remarkable aspect of the Accord PHEV sedan is that it takes only one hour to charge fully using a level-2, 240-volts charger and three hours when using a conventional 120-Vcharger.
