Moventas to Construct Wind Gear Assembly Plant in Portland

Moventas, a wind gear manufacturer, is all set to construct a wind gear assembly facility in Portland. This new facility will be serving the ever increasing customer demands faced by the wind energy markets in the U.S. by 2010 end.

With this Portland-investment, Moventas has taken a significant step towards expanding the company’s global assembly and manufacturing offerings for both the gear service customers and wind turbine manufacturers.

The U.S. was a natural choice in terms of selecting the location, since the country is enabled with one of the rapidly growing wind energy markets across the world. The first step towards expanding these existing facilities under the Portland-area is the wind gear assembly.

The initial capacity of this plant would be 200 MW that would mean 100 to 150 numbers of mid-sized wind turbine gears annually. The company would also continue with the preparations towards building up even larger capacities in the region of Midwest
