IMPSA, a global company offering incorporated solutions for renewable energy projects, declared that it has entered into an accord with the government of the province of La Rioja, to double up the current wind generation capability of Arauco Wind Farm owned by the government. The wind farm is situated in Valle de la Puerta in Aimogasta, a place located 120 kilometers away from the capital city of the Province of La Rioja.
The company had earlier supplied 12 numbers of 2.1 MW wind turbines to generate a total of 25 MW power and the wind turbines are getting installed. The present supply of 12 numbers of 2.1 MW wind turbines will help the wind farm to add an extra 25 MW to its power generation capability to make the total power production capacity of the farm to 50 MW. The wind turbines whose installations are under way will be completed by the end of this year and will become ready for operating. The erection of additional 12 wind turbines is anticipated to be completed and become operational during the early part of 2012. When the wind farm becomes fully operational it will provide power to more than 69,400 houses in the area and will offset 94,000 tons of CO2 emissions. IMPSA has undertaken the wind turbine construction project on a r turnkey basis and will continue to hold the responsibility for the up keep and functioning of the wind turbines for a period of 5 years.
Martín de los Santos, who holds the position of Director of Business Development in IMPSA, said that the wind project is one of the most important wind energy projects in Argentina, which is significant for the growth of IMPSA.
