Shear Wind to Complete Glen Dhu Wind Farm Project by March 2011

Shear Wind, a Halifax, Nova Scotia headquartered company, has declared commencement of wind power generation from Glen Dhu wind power project located in Nova Scotia. The company has partnered with Glen Dhu Wind Energy to install a wind farm with 62.1 MW power production capability.

The first phase completed with a power generation capability of 20.7 MW will supply the generated power to Nova Scotia Power for further distribution to its clients.

The Glen Dhu wind generation project expected to be the biggest in Nova Scotia is anticipated to become fully operational by 31st March 2011. The wind farm incorporates 27 ENERCON E-82 2.3 MW wind turbines. Shear Wind holds around 51% of the stakes in the wind farm project.

According to Mike Magnus, President and CEO of Shear Wind, the project completed its first phase and achieved commercial power generation due to the team work of the company. Since the foundation work for the installation of the remaining wind turbines has been completed, the company looks forward to commence its full-fledged commercial operation by March 2011 and start earning money before the end of the fiscal year.
