Schuff Steel Plans to Construct Wind Tower Production Facility in Ottawa

Schuff Steel, an auxiliary of Schuff International and structural steel fabricating and erecting company, has declared its intentions to build a wind tower production plant in Ottawa, Kansas.

Schuff Steel is planning to construct its new plant over a 200,000 square feet area at its present facility on Davis Road. The company has sensed the growing demand for wind turbine towers and looking forward to procure good amount of orders during the construction period of the plant. It has started preparing the details and the documents required for the construction to sustain its efforts. The company had earlier contrived to build the facility in North Dakota and shifted it to the current location, which is in close proximity to the wind belt of the country. The proposed plant when completed is expected to provide employment to 200 to 250 people.

Dennis Randall, Schuff's Midwest Division’s executive vice president, said that the company currently constructs the prototype of the proposed wind turbine tower at its facility in Ottawa, Kansas. Due to uniqueness of the planned wind turbine tower its volume production will commence from the projected manufacturing facility when it gets completed.
