Sun Innovations Develops New Printing Technology to Produce Solar Cells

Russian firm, Sun Innovations, has developed a new solar cell printing technology. The new technology will decrease the cost of production and enhance the quality of the solar panels.

By accurate quality and coverage of every working layer using the printing technology, costs and quantity of the solar cells can be controlled. Sun Innovations is experimenting on new, more efficient structures as an alternative for conventional silicon material. The advancement will enable any kind of flat surface such as flexible substrates to be printed with a solar cell. The company will exhibit the new technology during the end of 2011.

Sun Innovations is working closely with the scientific institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences located in the Novosibirsk Technopark. RUSNANO as well as Russian and overseas investors are backing the company. The new solar panel printing technology is a part of Sun Innovations Group’s national Technological Platform, endorsed by the Russian Federation’s Ministry of Economic Development.

Sun Innovations experts have developed a cost-effective and efficient UV-LED technology to produce UV-LED blocks for large-format UV-printers. The company utilized this NEO UV-LED system to print on water in 2010. The company is a developer and producer of nanoinks and large-format digital printers.
