Juhl Wind Secures Finance to Build Valley View Wind Farm

Juhl Wind, a company known for developing community wind power projects, declared that it has secured the construction financing and term debt loan for the ongoing construction of the Valley View Wind Farm, situated close to its head office in Southwestern Minnesota. The company has successfully arranged the term loan and financing on behalf of the Valley View.

Juhl Wind has declared the development of Valley View Wind Farm project in early 2009 and commenced construction of the project in October 2010. The 10 MW Valley View project is estimated to require an investment of around $21.7 million dollars. The company is planning to get the remaining $5.1 million required for the project in the form of equity. Juhl Wind is serving the project as a developer and manages its construction. The project will install five Gamesa G87 wind turbines for generating power and the installation is anticipated to get finished in the Spring of 2011.

The 10 MW power generated from the project will be sold to Xcel Energy under a power purchase agreement for a period of 20 years. The wind farm is formed under the "Community Wind” project of Juhl Wind where the ownership of the project is shared between the farmers who own the project lands and the local residents.
