108kW Micon Wind Turbine from Aeronautica Windpower

Aeronautica Windpower produces a range of refurbished wind turbines. The mid-sized wind turbines from the wind fields of California are recycled by the company for use elsewhere. The generator, seals, gearbox are inspected thoroughly and refurbished with necessary replacement of parts. The motor, pinion and bearing gear, brake unit, main shaft and bearings are checked and replaced.  The blades and the blade tips are also inspected and replaced if necessary.

The 108kW Micon wind turbine has three rotor blades with a diameter of 62 feet, and with a speed of 44 RPM, and upwind orientation. The blades are made of fiber reinforced polyester and weigh 1,500 pounds. The rotor blades can sweep an area of 280sq.m. The wind turbine is mounted on a tower with a height of 78 feet. The generator in the wind turbine has a rated power of 108kW with 1,200 RPM.

The wind turbine is mounted on monopole tower constructed with galvanized steel plate.  The tower is available with a height of 75 feet, and the hub with a height of 78 feet.  The tower is protected with a coating of white or colored epoxy paint.  The cut-in speed of the wind turbine is 8mph, and the survival wind speed is 120mph. As the rotor has stall-regulated blades, there is no cut-off speed.
