Sarulla Consortium Signs $1.17B Funding Agreement for 330MW Geothermal Project in Indonesia

Ormat Technologies, Inc. announced today that members of the Sarulla Consortium comprising of Medco, Itochu, Kyushu and Ormat signed $1.17 billion project financing agreements to finance the development and construction of the 330-megawatt (MW) Sarulla geothermal project in Tapanuli Utara, North Sumatra in Indonesia.

Lockheed Martin to Optimize Design of Atlantis’ New 1.5-MW Tidal Turbine

Adding to its recent momentum in ocean energy, Lockheed Martin announced today that it is further advancing the next generation of tidal energy. Lockheed Martin has commenced a contract from global tidal energy leader Atlantis Resources Ltd. to optimize the design of Atlantis’ new 1.5-megawatt tidal turbine, the AR1500.

DECC Receives NPL Funding for Extending Trials with the Deep Green Tidal Current Plant

The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) has awarded NPL, energy technology company Minesto, and IT Power more than £500,000 from in the second round of the Energy Entrepreneurs Fund. The funding will be used for extending the quarter scale ocean trials with the Deep Green tidal current power plant in Strangford Lough, Northern Ireland, to validate its commercial performance.

Fortum Signs Leasing Agreement with Wave Hub to Test Wave Power Solutions

Fortum has signed a leasing agreement with the UK-based Wave Hub in order to test wave power solutions off the coast of Cornwall. The agreement provides Fortum with a new opportunity to rapidly deploy advanced, full-scale wave power converters in ocean conditions.
