LTW106 2.5 MW Wind Turbine from LEITWIND AG

LEITWIND AG offers the LTW106 2.5 MW wind turbine. This wind turbine incorporates direct drive technology and does not use a gear box.

The hub of this wind turbine is directly connected to the generator and rotates efficiently even at low level wind speeds with less friction. The multi pole direct drive synchronous generator incorporated in the wind turbine has permanent magnets. The use of permanent magnets in the generator removes the need for of electrical excitation of the generator coils and betters the power yield during low wind conditions. The 2650 kW generator use IPP55 protection and offers a voltage of 480 V. The generator functions as a part of its load bearing structure and helps in load management.

LTW106 2.5 MW Wind Turbine

The unique hallow design of the rotor shaft allows free and easy access inside the wind turbine for servicing. This wind turbine hosts all the power electronics and transformer at its tower base and does not require an external transformer station. The modular gear less design of the wind turbine results in reduction of moving parts and the parts can be replaced without dismantling the wind turbine. The rotor installed in the LTW106 2.5 MW wind turbine offered by LEITWIND AG measures 105.33 m in diameter and offers a swept area of 8713 m². This variable speed rotor incorporates three blades made of glass fiber reinforced plastic material. The LTW106 2.5 MW incorporates and active yaw with electrical control. This wind turbine utilizes pitch control to manage power and rotor speed.

To control the speed and stop the blade operations of the wind turbine an aerodynamic pitch brake for individual blades and an electrical service brake is used. A hydraulic type of lock is used as rotor lock to arrest the movements of the rotor. This wind turbine starts its operations at 3 m/s wind speed, generates power in variable speed ranging from 6 to 14 m/s and stops its operations when the wind speed reaches 25 m/s. For managing the operations from remote this wind turbine incorporates a Leitwind SCADA remote control.
