Dow Corning has announced progress in environmental improvements; new sustainable solutions for customers and increased support for local communities. The contributions made by the company towards a sustainable future are highlighted in its recently released progress report: Designing for Sustainable Balance.
“Designing for sustainable balance describes how we apply our deep commitment to sustainability in the creation of products, processes, technologies and solutions that meet customer, environmental and societal needs, exactly,” said Stephanie A. Burns, Dow Corning’s chairman, president and CEO.
Here are just a few examples of Dow Corning’s efforts:
Environment- investment of new technology at Dow Corning’s largest manufacturing site resulting in 20 percent reduction of carbon dioxide emissions.
Innovation – a revolutionary chemical separation technology aiding in the removal of targeted chemicals, such as pesticides, from water during the manufacturing process of beverages.
Social – providing financial support for the development of labs at universities to give students hands-on chemical engineering experience.
