TexCote, one of the largest exterior coating manufacturers in the world, refined the composition of its COOLWALL(R) System to make it even more environmentally-friendly and provide architects with additional LEED credits. The company will showcase this new formulation at booth #1047 at Greenbuild 2008 in Boston from November 19 to 21, 2008.
The recycled composition of the COOLWALL(R) System is made of recycled glass material that gives architects the opportunity to meet LEED V2.2 standards for recycled content. This designation includes buildings that contain recycled, salvaged, reused or refurbished materials and also meets the LEED V2.2 requirement of having recycled content of 10 percent.
TexCote's COOLWALL(R) System is an industry leading product that incorporates heat-reflective technology that reflects the sun's infrared energy and UV radiation. By lowering wall surface temperatures by as much as 40 degrees F, the product reduces cooling costs by up to 21.9%(1). The product's FADE BLOCK(TM) technology prevents colors from fading, allowing the choice of 570 colors (versus just white), and has been applied to a variety of structures around the world with beautiful results.
"We are focused on continually innovating and improving our product offerings to deliver new and better solutions to our customers," said Mark Gierke, Vice President of Technology, TexCote. "The addition of recycled glass to the COOLWALL(R) System started as an idea that we quickly moved through our R&D process, customer trials and then to market."
The R&D process for this new composition was rigorous and one that validates the complexity of the COOLWALL(R) System's patented technology. The new primer and coating system was tested in a variety of aspects, including its optical characteristics, opacity, viscosity and leveling properties. Then, the material was put through weathering testing to ensure it could handle the test of Mother Nature.
"In just six months, we were able to take this material from idea to market," said Jay Haines, Chief Executive Officer, TexCote. "It is this sense of agility and quick turnaround on compelling ideas that makes TexCote a true industry leader."
TexCote will showcase this product advancement at the 2008 Greenbuild International Conference & Expo in Boston. Greenbuild 2008's theme of "Revolutionary Green: Innovations for Global Sustainability" provides the perfect opportunity to introduce attendees to the new composition, and showcase the system's combination of sustainability and superior performance.
