Georgia-Pacific Gypsum to Showcase Environmentally Recognised Building Materials to American Architects

At the 2009 American Institute of Architects (AIA) convention, Georgia-Pacific Gypsum LLC - a leader in innovative building products and practices - will showcase the industry's only full portfolio of gypsum fiberglass mat products. These Gypsum building materials help architects to design and build more durable buildings and homes.

Many of Georgia-Pacific's gypsum panels also are recognized by the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute for low emissions and microbial resistance and by The Collaborative for High Performing Schools.

Since the introduction of its flagship DensGlass(TM) exterior sheathing more than 20 years ago, Georgia-Pacific Gypsum has steadily expanded its portfolio of fiberglass mat gypsum panels to include DensArmor Plus(R) High-Performance Interior Panels, DensArmor Plus(R) Abuse-Resistant Interior Panels, DensDeck(R) Roof Boards, DensGlass(TM) Ultra Shaftliner, DensShield(R) Tile Backer and the newly released Impact-Resistant Panels. All will be featured at the convention in booth 2125.

"At Georgia-Pacific Gypsum, we are proud of our commitment to supporting design excellence and environmental responsibility," said Warren Barber, product manager, Georgia-Pacific Gypsum. "Smart design hinges on the availability of innovative products that address all factors of the building process. That said, we believe our products provide a perfect balance between smart design and good construction."

Among the news highlights Georgia-Pacific Gypsum will share at AIA are:

Launch of GP Gypsum YouTube Channel

To further engage architects and other constituents, Georgia-Pacific Gypsum is unveiling a new YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/gpdens) that provides viewers with compelling video segments highlighting product testing, which will later expand to feature customer testimonials and profiles of compelling product installation projects.

"Social media outlets, like YouTube, present an opportunity to reach a broader audience with relevant and engaging content," said Ron Dickson, director of marketing, Georgia-Pacific Gypsum. "With the new YouTube site, we are inviting architects, builders and other viewers to experience first-hand the benefits of our product portfolio."

LEED Contribution with Recycled Content and Regional Materials

Furthering its commitment to environmentally-responsible innovation, Georgia-Pacific Gypsum utilizes energy-efficient technologies and manufacturing processes to enable all of its Dens(TM) branded gypsum panels to be manufactured using recycled or recovered material, which can allow users to qualify for LEED contribution for recycled materials. Additionally, due to the number of plants Georgia-Pacific Gypsum has in North America, Regional Materials contribution for LEED also is possible for many areas of the United States and Canada.
