Codero Purchases 12,600 MWh Green-e Certified Power from Ecoelectrons

Codero, deciding to go green with its electricity consumption, has purchased 12,600 MWh of Green-e certified power from renewable energy resources. The purchase, made using renewable energy credits, will power its headquarters and two data centers, located in Overland Park in Kansas, San Diego in California and Phoenix in Arizona, respectively.

The renewable green power will be supplied by Ecoelectrons Renewable Energy, a supplier of green power through renewable energy credits. The purchased power will be utilized for the entire operations at Codero’s abovementioned facilities, meeting their annual electricity needs in total.

Codero’s membership in the Green-e Energy's Marketplace program, allows it to display the Green-e logo on communication materials as well as its website, helping customers to identify and recognize the commendable services provided by the company pertaining to certified renewable energy. Codero also plans to join the Green Power Partnership, which is managed by the US Environmental Protection Agency. The Agency provides expert guidance and technical support to organizations that purchase green power.

In the current scenario, renewable energy accounts for just two percent of total power generation in the US. Codero's decision to go green will reduce carbon dioxide emissions as well as other pollutants, helping to build a renewable energy market and increasing incentives for the development of new facilities.
