Entropic Energy offers its patented system, known as the Turbion, which utilizes waste materials in order to produce heat and electricity. This system can be used for small scale electricity generation (50 kW to 2 MW). The Turbion uses patented Entropic power cycles for its operation and contains no boilers or dynamic seals. The types of materials that can be used in this system include agricultural and forest wastes.
The Turbion system for BioPower applications has a net cycle efficiency of about 20 – 22 per cent. This system from Entropic Energy canbe used with other systems that have an electric output of less than 2000 kW. Any kind of flue gas cleaning technology can be used in accordance with the Turbion system as the flue gas that is pumped out has a low enough temperature that is below the cellulose ignition temperature. A high temperature coolant (40 degree Celsius) can also be used in the Turbion for a higher level of efficiency.
Due to its cogeneration feature, the Turbion system from Entropic Energy offers rejected heat in a usable and convenient form. The rejected heat is, thus, converted into glycol or hot water that can be easily pumped out. This system can also function effectively without any cooling water, cooling tower or make-up water.
