Northern Power Systems Offers Northwind 100 Arctic Wind Turbines

Northern Power Systems manufactures and supplies Northwind 100 and Northwind 100 Arctic wind turbines. The Northwind 100 Arctic wind turbine is based on the Northwind 100 model. This arctic turbine model is designed for icy and cold environments. When a turbine is equipped with gearbox-laden drive train, it requires heating elements and hydraulic fluids to operate smoothly in arctic conditions.

The Northwind 100 Arctic wind turbine mounted on a tubular tower is constructed for low maintenance. It is designed with the permanent magnet direct drive technology, which helps the wind generator to perform efficiently in all environments.  The wind generator from Northern Power Systems is designed with ice-block blade coating. This hydro-phobic polymer coating increases the uptime in arctic climate conditions.

The Northwind 100 Arctic wind turbine is equipped with a tubular steel monopole tower for mounting the turbine. The height of the hub is 121ft and the diameter of the rotor is 69ft. This wind generator designed by Northern Power Systems incorporates a variable speed power regulation. It generates electric power up to 100kW at a wind speed of 32.4mph. The Northwind 100 Arctic has a cut-in speed of 7.8mph, cut-out speed of 56mph and with a maximum wind speed of 125mph. It has a maximum rotation speed of 59RPM. This turbine incorporates two motor-controlled calipers as brakes, DSP-based multiprocessor embedded platform controller and permanent magnet generator.
