FuelCell Energy, Inc., a global leader in the design, manufacture, operation and service of ultra-clean, efficient and reliable fuel cell power plants, announced another utility-scale award for two 2.8 megawatt DFC3000® fuel cell power plants by United Illuminating (UI), part of UIL Holdings Corporation. One power plant will be located in Bridgeport, Connecticut as part of a distributed renewable power generation project that also includes a solar array.
Fuel cells have long been heralded as the energy technology of the future. Invented in 1838, the cells promise an almost limitless supply of clean energy for everything from cars to electrical grids, but have always proven too expensive to manufacture, fuel and maintain to enter mainstream use. Hoping to bring down those costs, a team of Bucknell faculty and student researchers has developed a new tool that could greatly accelerate fuel cell experimentation, and one day lead to the first commercially viable fuel cells.
Zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell systems soon could be powering the forklifts used in warehouses and other industrial settings at lower costs and with faster refueling times than ever before, courtesy of a partnership between Sandia National Laboratories and Hawaii Hydrogen Carriers (HHC).
Starting today, Plug Power Inc., a leader in providing clean, reliable energy products, will be showcasing its comprehensive GenKey hydrogen fuel cell solution during the MODEX 2014 tradeshow taking place March 17-20 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.
Reportlinker.com announces that a new market research report is available in its catalogue: Fuel Cell Market Outlook 2020
Air Products' newest hydrogen fueling station, a SmartFuel® branded station located in Torrance, California, is installed and operational at Honda's R&D headquarters. The private station incorporates many technology advancements and is being touted by Air Products as a model for how rapidly a hydrogen fueling station can be constructed at a site, and its related infrastructure can be placed into operation.
The stationary fuel cell sector continues to be the vanguard of the overall global fuel cell industry. As the focus on grid stability increases and the costs associated with natural disasters rise, the use of fuel cells as small distributed power plants for grid stabilization and backup is moving forward more rapidly, in terms of megawatts and revenue, than any other fuel cell sector.
Air Products welcomed the Commercial Group to its Smartfuel® hydrogen fuelling station at Heathrow airport, London, on 20th January to fuel the Group’s first London-based hydrogen hybrid Ford Transit delivery van. The fuelling was one of many to come as Commercial Group will continue to use the Air Products Smartfuel® station for its growing hydrogen hybrid delivery fleet.
Clean hydrogen power that’s expected to lower emissions and reduce energy consumption will be coming to the Port of Honolulu in 2015 after the completion of a new fuel cell technology demonstration, one that could lead to a commercial technology for ports worldwide.
