Renewable energy solutions firm Citizen Green Solutions has helped install a novel solar thermal system for the Kunde Family Estate Winery to produce hot water utilizing sunlight. Solar water heating can be ideal for wineries, as they require large quantities of hot water for cleaning and sterilization processes.
Financed through the Sonoma County Energy Efficiency Program (SCEIP), the 1,000 square-foot system is likely to save natural gas expenses of $95,000 for the Kunde Family Estate Winery and offset over 491 tons of CO2 in 30 years time.
Jeff Kunde, the Chairman of Kunde Family Estate Winery, commented that the novel solar water heating system strengthens the company’s commitment to sustainability.
