SKF Displays Energy-Efficient Bearings at the World Expo

SKF is one of the official partners in the Swedish exhibition area at the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai. Carrying the theme "Better City, Better Life", the World Expo displays an innovative solution and novel energy efficient bearings that find applications in wind mills. These products were displayed in the Swedish exhibition area.

The CEO and President of SKF Tom Johnstone commented that the theme of the World Expo suits well with the company’s sustainability initiatives. The company has been focusing on developing solutions and products that help customers minimize their consumption of energy.

One of the exhibits at the World Expo is the SKF WindCon system which is meant for continuous condition examining of wind mill turbines. China’s wind energy industry is one of the fastest growing industries and SKF provides manufacturers with seal, bearings, condition monitoring systems and lubrication systems.

SKF consider China to be an essential market for the company. To this end, the company has started three factories in the country, with the largest one located in Dalian for which SEK 1.1 billion was invested. SKF has also started two SKF Solution Factories and a wind sector service centre in China.
