ATN Joins NexGen for Transit Bus Testing and Conversion to Electric from Diesel

The Anaheim Transportation Network (ATN) has partnered with NexGen Power Group for testing a completely functional battery-powered, zero-emission, heavy-duty transit bus for a period of one year starting 2010 December.

NexGen Power Group will be retrofitting two buses to an electricity operating platform from diesel operating platform for the purpose of performing a full operating day.

Two diesel buses, a 22-foot one and a 40-foot one, will pass through the six-month process of conversion before being placed for a demonstration test of one year. The conversion is provided by NexGen Power Group to ATN at zero cost. During the project’s demonstration phase, NexGen Power Group will have ability to completely access the buses for data analysis as well as collection. This partnership provides ATN with an unprecedented opportunity in testing real-life applications of transit bus technologies that are sustainable.
