OMM Sub-Contracted for Execution of Cable Work to Walney 2 Offshore Wind Farm

Offshore Marine Management (OMM), declared that Norway's Draka Norsk Kabel AS (DNK), has subcontracted it for the execution of the required cable work to connect the Walney 2 offshore wind farm, situated away from the west coast of England.

Draka Norsk Kabel AS (DNK) had earlier signed an agreement for the second stage of DONG Energy and Scottish and Southern Energy's (SSE) joint venture project during May last year for the installation of an inter-array cabling for the 183.6 MW offshore wind farm construction. The company has subcontracted with OMM to perform the execution and analyze the three-core undersea submarine cables and its supplementary components intended for the inter-array cables that connect the group wind turbines to the offshore substations. OMM has signed the contract during the current month and is required to complete the work by the year 2011.

Rob Grimmond Managing Director of OMM said that the signed contract with DNK will bring enough opportunities to showcase the offshore capabilities of the company to a cable producer with a good market share. He added that his company has gained experience in other offshore projects located in various places such as Korea, UK and Germany. He concluded saying that the company is fortifying its present position as a leading offshore solution provider by diversifying into every range of service related to offshore wind farm installation right from designing to the implementation stage.
