REpower to Unveil its 3.2 MW Wind Turbine at EWEA 2011

REpower Systems has declared that it will launch its 3.2 MW wind turbines with hub height of around 143 m at the ‘EWEA 2011’ sponsored by the European Wind Energy Association and to be held in Belgium by this month.

The REpower 3.2M114 wind turbine incorporates a 114 meter diameter rotor and it is specifically designed for use in low level wind locations. The wind turbine incorporates a hybrid type of tower manufactured utilizing steel and concrete and is installed in sections. The company is planning to erect a prototype of its 3.2M114 wind turbine incorporating a 93 meter height hub and a steel tower by the end of the year 2011.

According to Matthias Schubert, REpower’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO), the bigger sized hub heights will allow construction in new sites that are to be developed. The usage of high hub height wind turbine can be used in hither to un-attempted hilly terrains and forest areas in Southern Germany.
