Pattern Energy Announces Completion of St. Joseph Wind Project

Pattern Energy Group LP (Pattern) declared that the construction of its St. Joseph Wind Project, located in Manitoba, has been completed and is now fully functional. Mortenson Canada has constructed the wind farm project under harsh weather conditions within a period of one year.

The 138 MW wind project will generate enough power to provide electricity to nearly 50,000 homes in Manitoba. In addition to generating clean energy, the wind farm also generates considerable amount of revenue and has created jobs in the local area. During the life time of the project, Pattern Energy will give around $38 million as rent to the landlords and another $44 million as municipal taxes. Pattern has already entered into a power purchase agreement with Manitoba Hydro to sell the power generated from the wind project for a period of 27 years.

During the construction stage, the project has created around 350 jobs. The company recruited 10 members to manage and maintain the operations of the project. The clean energy generated by the facility will offset over 350,000 tons of carbon emissions.
