UK-Based Wind Turbine Manufacturer Announces Record Sales

Today quietrevolution, a leading UK manufacturer of vertical axis wind turbines, announces record sales. The company, which recently gained MCS certification for its innovative vertical axis wind turbine, has closed its book with 30 and 18 qr5 turbine orders from Germany and Australia respectively.

The orders come as distributers RWE Innogy in Germany and Maxim Renewables in Australia look to ensure they have sufficient numbers to satisfy demand while stocks last.

In total quietrevolution, which manufactures the qr5 turbine in South Wales will fulfil 105 orders to the UK, Ireland, Germany and Australian markets this year alone.

The innovative qr5 delivers low noise and vibration along with an active control system with integral remote monitoring. It is especially suited for generating power on-site and its compact rotor design, measuring only x5 metres high and x3 metres wide, enables it to be easily installed either on buildings or as a stand-alone turbine.

Jose Carlos Damas, Sales & Marketing Director of quietrevolution, said: “These orders represent another big step in our growth and they are a clear indication of the mounting demand for small wind both locally and globally. We and our partners have worked hard to highlight the benefits of our unique qr5 turbine, which is now recognised as a viable investment option around the world.”

Dr. Olaf Heil, Director of Hydro Power & New Applications from RWE Innogy, said: “We have had considerable interest from clients in the qr5 and we think the turbines will operate well in Germany. This is a great step forward in our exclusive agreement with quietrevolution to sell 30 turbines in Germany by the end of 2011.”

Robert Minney, Managing Director of Maxim Renewable, said: “Our agreement with quietrevolution to distribute these turbines in Australia positions us as a leader in the emerging renewable energy markets here. We will look forward to optimising the synergies of our construction expertise further in the small wind sector.”

Last year quietrevolution was named one of the fastest growing cleantech companies in Europe, winning fourth place in the Cleantech Connect League Table Awards.
