RPM Access and CIPCO Announce Partial Completion of 41 MW Wind Farm

US based RPM Access (RPMA) and Central Iowa Power Cooperative (CIPCO) have announced that the 41MW Elk wind farm from RPMA is partially operational.

RPMA has also announced that it has purchased 35 Nordex 2.5 MW turbines and has started constructing the 36 MW Hawkeye Wind farm located near West Union and the 50 MW Rippey Wind farm located next to Grand Junction in Iowa. RPMA also added that the Elk wind farm was likely to be fully operational by the end of 2012.

CIPCO has also announced that they have started to receive renewable energy from the Elk Wind farm and that it will also buy renewable energy from the Rippey and Hawkeye wind farms. After their completion, all the three wind farms will use 52 Nordex N100/2500 2.5 MW turbines totally. These turbines will be located on towers measuring 328 ft. While most of the construction at the Elk wind farm is over, construction of substation, road and laydown has been commenced at the Rippey and Hawkeye wind farms. According to the CEO and Executive President of CIPCO, Dennis Murdock more than 95% of the company’s electricity needs is met by Iowa. With the addition of the Hawkeye and Rippey wind farms, the company will be able to increase its emission and carbon free resources to 50% by the end of 2012.
