Pirelli has inked a voluntary contract with the Ministry for the Environment and Land and SeaProtection in order to decrease the climate impact caused from the activities related to manufacturing and use of its tyres.
During the international conference “Driving Sustainability: a safe road to the future”, Marco Tronchetti Provera, Chairman of Pirelli, and Minister Corrado Clini had signed the agreement. This contract highlights the company’s commitment to develop products and production systems through its proprietary technology. These systems guarantee the reduction of green impact and consumer safety.
The international conference addressed the sustainability theme as an essential condition for the future of a company, through avantgarde technologies that are capable of developing more efficient and sustainable growth models.
The topic of the conference debate included the role of the consumer in an economic system, which has observed profound changes in the market dynamics and the models of development in recent times.
According to Pirelli, growth also signifies a responsibility towards the customer and this can be achieved by developing safer products and protecting the environment. The participants of the conference included Toby Webb, Ethical’s President and Founder, Nikhil Chandavarkar from United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, the European Commission’s VP, Antonio Tajani, the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) President, Peter Bakker, the Foundation on Economic Trends’ President, Jeremy Rifkin, the Transport and Tourism Committee of the European Parliament’s member, Carlo Fidanza, and Pirelli’s COO, Francesco Gori.
