Duke Energy Renewables and Sumitomo Corp. of America (the U.S. subsidiary of Sumitomo Corp.) announced today the completion of the first of the joint venture partners' two Kansas wind farms – the Cimarron II Windpower Project in Gray County.
Kansas City Power & Light purchases all of the zero-emission electricity and renewable energy certificates generated by the 131-megawatt (MW) Cimarron II facility under the terms of a 20-year agreement.
Duke Energy Renewables, a commercial business unit of Duke Energy (NYSE: DUK), sold a 50- percent stake in Cimarron II and the 168-MW Ironwood Windpower Project in Ford County to Sumitomo Corp. of America in April.
