The DG-REP, formed in March 2013, is made up of public and private sector organisations from across the region that are involved or interested in renewable energy and energy efficiency. Their vision is to secure the maximum economic and employment benefits from the development of the renewable energy sector for the benefit of the region and its communities and on 26th February 2014, published the Renewable Energy Action Plan for Dumfries and Galloway.

Earlier this year, CWL carried out a series of ‘Meet the Buyer’ events throughout the Dumfries and Galloway area to promote opportunities available for local companies on two of the Company’s wind farm projects: Sanquhar Community Wind Farm, which has received planning consent, and Auchleand Community Wind Farm, which is currently in the planning process.

Those attending the events discovered how they could be involved with the wind farms and how to become part of the supply chain to deliver them. In addition, they heard from Shelley Bell, Economic Development Officer from Dumfries and Galloway Council, who presented at the event to introduce the area’s Renewable Energy Action Plan as part of the DG-REP. As CWL were impressed by the Council’s proactive approach to business engagement in the renewable energy sector, they subsequently requested to become a member of the DG-REP to assist the group with achieving their vision and objectives.

Community Windpower Ltd looks forward to working with all the members of the DG-REP and maximising the benefits of wind energy across the region.
