PECO Encourages Customers to Consider Replacing Traditional Light Bulbs with CFLs

Spring-cleaning time is here, and as customers get their homes ready, PECO encourages them to consider replacing traditional light bulbs with compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs). These bulbs, and other energy saving products are available at discounted prices at the company's Online Energy Store. The campaign is part of PECO's efforts to help consumers conserve electricity and save money.

CFLs are more energy efficient than conventional incandescent light bulbs, using up to 75 percent less electricity and lasting up to 10 times longer, while producing the same amount of light. CFLs also produce less heat than traditional bulbs and therefore can cut down on the cost of cooling a home. By replacing a 60-watt traditional bulb with a 13-watt CFL, consumers can save more than $30 during the life of the bulb.

“We would like to encourage our customers to replace their old light bulbs with the more energy-efficient CFL,” said Denis O’Brien, president and CEO of PECO. “We are constantly looking for ways to help our customers conserve energy, protect the environment and ultimately save money. CFLs are just one more tool we can all use to increase our energy efficiency.”

PECO customers can visit the Online Energy Store to purchase energy-saving products, including CFLs at a 20 percent discount. To purchase energy-saving products, learn more about PECO’s conservation efforts and get tips on saving energy, customers can visit www.peco.com/save.
