Jack Mason Introduces Solar-Powered Watch Using Recycled and Eco-Friendly Materials

In favor of Earth Day, Jack Mason launched its first solar-powered watch made from sustainable and recycled materials.

The solar watch is an advanced version of the Jack Mason Field watch and comprises of recycled and sustainable materials as well as a sunset design on the case back. The internal rotating bezel, which could possibly be used to provide a very common directional bearing, is controlled by the second crown. In combination with the Epson VS43 movement, a solar cell is placed just below the somewhat translucent dial and charges its battery.

No need to replace the battery, ever. The watch can run for six months on a full charge and charges with any light source indoors or outdoors.

The straps are made with a recently developed polyester upholstery produced from recycled plastic bottles, along with sustainable cork. The watch case is made using cast recycled stainless steel and waste from other case manufacturing.

To round out the box set we partnered with Rite in the Rain, a brand I’ve always been a fan of for both the tested quality of its product, but also its commitment to the environment.

The box set contains an all-weather notepad and pencils produced from recycled newsprint contributed by Rite in the Rain. They preferred to use a recycled paper wrapping above Jack Mason’s normal special edition recyclable box to further minimize the expense of the new material that is used in wrapping.

The profits from the sale of the Solar Watch or Box Set will be used by the Conservation International in an effort to save the forests. They aim to secure tropical forests across the globe, working directly with the people who reside in, and rely on, these forests.
