Sustainable Buildings Showcased at Ecobuild in U.K.

DuPont Building Innovations recently participated in Ecobuild -- the world’s largest event dedicated to sustainable design, construction and the built environment -- in London, England. More than 24,000 people attended the event, where DuPont exhibited its sustainable building offerings.

One of the most popular exhibits was “ruralZED ,” a zero-carbon house that featured the latest designs, systems and sustainable materials. Designed and built by a leading environmental and sustainable architectural firm, ZEDFactory Associates, “ruralZed” was the centerpiece of the show. It was made with several DuPont products including: DuPont™ SentryGlas® Plus, DuPont™ AirGuard® and DuPont™ Tyvek®. A number of other exhibits also featured sustainable DuPont products.

“The underlying value of this initiative was showcasing ‘One DuPont’ sustainability offerings,” said Mark Saunders, technical consultant, DuPont Building Innovations. “Buildings account for 45 percent of primary energy used in the U.K., so the argument no longer is about the rationale for cutting carbon dioxide emissions, but about how this can be achieved.”

“This was a particularly successful event that highlighted DuPont’s growing position in the sustainable building market,” said Jay Macdonald, construction industry team leader, DuPont U.K. and Ireland.
