Cloud-based SCADA for Asset Monitoring

For years, Environmental Monitoring Solutions (EMS) has relied on Ovarro’s TBox remote telemetry units (RTUs) and other systems throughout its networks that provide energy management systems to water suppliers. The challenge that EMS has is that each industrial water customer has different network requirements, key performance indicators (KPIs) and uses a variety of different Internet of Things (IoT) systems.

EMS approached Ovarro to assist in improving the way data is presented to their clients, simply add new clients to its networks, support existing customers more efficiently, offer its own apps to new customers, and extend its network.

For a solution, EMS has chosen Stream Webscada from Ovarro. The scalable and modern 4G web-enabled SCADA platform gives customers real-time insights into processes and asset health, and the ability to control connected field equipment.

Stream Webscada is accessed through various devices, like iPads, with secure log-ins and cybersecurity backed by Amazon web services and Microsoft Azure.

Projects can be tested and developed offline before going live, and metrics are used to monitor and control connected field equipment such as TBox RTUs and Ovarro’s D26 series wireless data loggers, programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and IoT-devices.

With Stream Webscada, EMS can improve the way data is presented to its clients. Ovarro continues to support the customer’s use of the platform.

Reports and Maintenance

The Stream Webscada platform is suitable for managing and controlling different assets and geographically spread processes, combined with telemetry systems that are easy to use and offer 24/7 online process information. Due to its modern modular design, Stream Webscada is easy to connect to various third-party systems, with fast response times.

Assets in critical infrastructure networks ― including water ― often run unsupervised in remote locations. Effectively monitoring and controlling these assets 24/7 is a challenge for operators in any industry. This can lead to non-proactive maintenance, with costly and unexpected recurring failure replacements.

As a solution, the Stream Webscada platform gives Ovarro’s customers real-time insights into processes and asset health, and the ability to control connected field equipment.

“Stream Webscada gives us two-way communications, alarms, updated calibration information and more, 24/7,” said Gary Thursfield, Technical Director, EMS. “The platform can streamline how we manage and collate information on all our customers.”
