6 Star Green Star Environmental Design Showcased by Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre

Taking its commitment to environmental sustainability one step further, the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) has now launched its innovative 'M Green' micro-site to compliment its award-winning website.

The M Green micro-site offers visitors a fascinating glimpse inside the MCEC's unique new Melbourne Convention Centre, showcasing specific features of the impressive architectural and environmental design that earned the centre its '6 Star Green Star' environmental rating - the only convention centre in the world to have achieved this status.

The M Green micro-site is divided into three distinct parts.

'The Design' section features original design sketches and quotes from the architects, with photographs and accompanying information highlighting just what it takes to create one of the most visually striking and environmentally sound convention centres in the world.

'The Way We Work' talks about the environmental strategies that have already been implemented into the MCEC and the initiatives that continue to benchmark and progress the MCEC's environmental performance.

'The Green Alternatives' section is a specific area where clients and meeting planners can source a whole host of green information and advice on how to incorporate green solutions into their events at the MCEC.

Interesting snippets of information are also dotted throughout the site in 'Did you know?' sections.

The MCEC launched its new virtual on-line interactive centre guide in July and in September, the website picked up the prestigious 2008 Web Marketing Associations WebAward for Outstanding Achievement in Website Development.

MCEC chief executive Leigh Harry says, 'The M Green micro-site will be an integral part of MCEC's existing award-winning website.

'In effect it introduces visitors to the environmental design credentials of the new Melbourne Convention Centre and also gives a good overview of the MCEC's environmental strategies and initiatives,' Leigh says.

'Come mid 2009, Melbourne will be home to one of the most impressive and advanced buildings in Australia and the M Green micro-site explains why.'

To log on to the M Green micro-site, go to http://www.mcec.com.au/experience and take an inspirational design journey through Australia's greenest convention centre.
